President of the European Commission warns Turkey a stern warning

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has warned Turkey against any attempt to intimidate its neighbors, ahead of the upcoming European Union summit.

Von der Leyen, in her speech before the European Parliament in Brussels, said that there are no justifications for Turkey's attempts to antagonize its neighbors, stressing that "while we are close in the map, the distance between us is increasing."

The European summit is scheduled to start on September 24 and 25, when sharp disputes in the eastern Mediterranean will dominate it, at a time when the European Union has threatened to impose sanctions on Turkey over its violations and illegal exploration.

Earlier, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said after his meeting with European Council President Charles Michel that "Turkey still has time - before and after the summit - to continue its step to get out of this crisis."
