The migration file raises the dispute between Pasha Agha and the militias

An international report revealed the existence of clashes between the Minister of Interior of the Militias in Libya Fathi Pasha Agha and other leaders over managing the migration file.

The Global Initiative against International Organized Crime indicated in a report on illegal immigration in Libya that militias were involved in detention centers for illegal immigrants.

The report stated that after a raid hit, on the night of July 2, 2019, a migrant detention center in Tajoura outside Tripoli, killing 53 migrants, the beginning of the awakening was the demand to close these centers and keep them away from the circles of conflict.

The report revealed that, after more than a year, little had changed. Detention centers continue to operate near military sites, controlled by the militias, some of which have fought from time to time for control of Tripoli.

How do militias benefit?

The report confirmed that more than 34 detention centers, with about 3,200 immigrants in Libya, 20 of them - in nominal at least - are subject to the authority of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration, stressing that all detention centers are controlled by militias and it is a big problem not only because this allows violations against Detainees, but also because militias are active in an armed conflict, which exposes them to death.
