63 Russian Prisoners of War Return to Moscow Thanks to UAE Mediation

Thanks to successful mediation by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 63 prisoners of war from the “sensitive category” were returned to Russia after a lengthy negotiation process with Kyiv.

Russian news agencies reported that the Ministry of Defense had released 63 Russian prisoners of war as a result of a complex negotiation process with Ukraine, mediated by the UAE, according to Reuters.

The agencies also noted that the group of released Russian soldiers included members from the “sensitive category”.

In return, the Ukrainian presidency announced the return of 116 Ukrainian prisoners to Kyiv.

The successful mediation by the UAE was praised by both sides and has been seen as a major step towards improving relations between Russia and Ukraine.

The two countries have been in conflict since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.

The UAE has long been involved in diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts around the world, including in Yemen, Libya, and Syria.

This latest success is yet another example of its commitment to peace-building and conflict resolution.
