UAE Reviews Key Updates on BRICS Participation Under the Leadership of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers, chaired a virtual meeting of the UAE’s BRICS Steering Committee to review recent developments and enhance coordination for the nation’s active participation in the BRICS group.
During the meeting, His Highness emphasized the importance of intensifying and aligning efforts among all relevant government entities to ensure the UAE's participation is both impactful and reflective of its global stature. He underscored the UAE’s commitment to multilateral engagement and strategic cooperation with international partners.
The session featured a presentation by H.E. Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs and UAE Sherpa to BRICS, who outlined the country’s latest contributions to the group and highlighted key national priorities across various BRICS working tracks.
Multi-Sectoral Strategy for BRICS Engagement
Discussions included the UAE’s strategic role in diverse BRICS domains such as:
Economy and finance
Energy and transportation
Climate and agriculture
Science and technology
Justice, health, culture, and sports
The meeting also covered ongoing preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 6–7, 2025.
