Sabalenka Storms into Wimbledon Quarterfinals as Fritz Advances in Men's Draw

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus continued her dominant run at the Grand Slam stage, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships without dropping a single set. Sabalenka overcame Belgium’s Elise Mertens, the 24th seed, in straight sets (6-4, 7-6) in an intense evening clash, demonstrating power and poise from the baseline.

Next, she will face Germany’s Laura Siegemund, who advanced to her first Wimbledon quarterfinal after dispatching Argentina’s Solana Sierra 6-3, 6-2 in just under 80 minutes. Sabalenka will be aiming to continue her winning streak and edge closer to her second major title of the season.

In other women’s singles action, Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova booked her place in the last eight with a hard-fought victory over Britain's Sonay Kartal, winning 7-6, 6-4 in a match filled with baseline rallies and tactical exchanges.

On the men’s side, American Taylor Fritz secured his quarterfinal berth after his opponent, Australia’s Jordan Thompson, was forced to retire due to injury. Fritz was leading comfortably 6-1, 3-0 at the time of Thompson's withdrawal. He will now face Russia’s Karen Khachanov, the 17th seed, who defeated Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in straight sets (6-4, 6-2, 6-3). Khachanov’s power-serving and baseline consistency proved too much for the Pole in a match that lasted just under two hours.

As the Wimbledon tournament heads into its final stages, both draws are heating up with thrilling performances and high-stakes matchups, promising more world-class tennis in the coming days.
