UAE Participates in the 3rd BRICS Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas Meeting
The United Arab Emirates reaffirmed its commitment to multilateral cooperation by participating in the 3rd BRICS Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas Meeting, held from June 30 to July 4, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Representing the UAE was H.E. Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs and the country’s Sherpa to the BRICS group.
The UAE’s participation focused on strengthening economic collaboration with BRICS member states by exploring trade opportunities and developing joint initiatives that support sustainable growth and balanced development across the bloc.
The UAE emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral and multilateral investments among BRICS nations, with a particular focus on strategic sectors such as renewable energy, technology, industry, and infrastructure. These areas are viewed as critical to stimulating global economic momentum and driving innovation-led development.
During the meeting, the UAE also showcased its position as a leading global financial and trade hub that bridges East and West. With its advanced logistics and regulatory infrastructure, the country highlighted its capability to serve as an ideal platform for facilitating trade and investment flows between BRICS countries and the rest of the world.
Furthermore, the UAE underlined the importance of continuous coordination among BRICS Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas to establish strategic frameworks that enhance political and economic cooperation. The discussions also called for more inclusive and balanced global economic reforms that reflect the aspirations of developing and emerging economies within BRICS.
This participation marks another milestone in the UAE’s proactive role in shaping global economic dialogue and contributing to a more connected, equitable international system.
