 UAE’s Global Cultural Leadership Praised by UNESCO General Conference President

Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the General Conference of UNESCO, has praised the UAE’s outstanding commitment to preserving cultural and natural heritage on both national and international levels. She described the UAE as a principal partner to UNESCO and a global role model in heritage protection.

In her statement, Miculescu highlighted the UAE’s forward-looking vision and its dedication to safeguarding tangible and intangible heritage. She emphasized how this commitment contributes to preserving humanity’s shared memory and fostering intercultural dialogue.

The UAE’s pioneering initiatives in archiving rare manuscripts and historical documents, as well as its support for international projects protecting endangered heritage in conflict zones, were also commended. Miculescu underscored the strength of the partnership between the UAE and UNESCO, particularly in supporting programs related to heritage conservation and raising global awareness of cultural values.

She concluded that the UAE’s balanced approach to modernization and cultural preservation cements its status as a key contributor to the protection of humanity’s collective heritage, and a true inspiration on the global stage.
