Demi Moore Shows Support for Emma Heming as Bruce Willis Battles Frontotemporal Dementia
In a heartfelt moment on Oprah Winfrey’s podcast, actress Demi Moore spoke candidly about the challenges faced by Emma Heming, the wife of her ex-husband Bruce Willis, as the actor continues his battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Moore praised Heming’s resilience, highlighting her dedication not only to Bruce’s care but also to her own well-being as a caregiver. “She has worked so hard to understand this, and most importantly, she recognizes that caregivers must also take care of themselves. Without that, they cannot help anyone else,” Moore said.
Her words came shortly after Heming’s moving interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC, where she revealed the difficult decision of moving Willis into a single-level home to ensure he receives round-the-clock care.
According to the Mayo Clinic, FTD refers to a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes, which are responsible for personality, behavior, and language.
Moore, who was married to Willis from 1987 to 2000 and shares three daughters with him, expressed deep compassion for Heming: “No one could have predicted this journey, and I think she has done an extraordinary job. She’s shown fear, courage, and incredible strength in navigating this.”
The actress also acknowledged the emotional difficulty of seeing Willis—once a figure of vitality and strength—facing such a profound health struggle.
Willis and Heming, married since 2009, are parents to two daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11. Heming is now preparing to release a book titled “The Unexpected Journey,” out on September 9, which chronicles the family’s experience with FTD. Moore believes the book will serve as a powerful resource for others facing similar challenges.
This moment of solidarity between Moore and Heming underscores a rare, united front—a blended family coming together with compassion and strength during an unimaginably difficult chapter.
