UAE Rescue Team Concludes Participation in Albania Wildfire Efforts
The UAE rescue team has officially concluded its participation in firefighting operations in the Republic of Albania after several weeks of intensive efforts. Supported by highly trained personnel, specialized aircraft, and advanced firefighting equipment, the team played a crucial role in containing devastating wildfires.
According to Ministry of Defense spokesperson Mohammed Al-Sharif, the team carried out 700 water drops, equivalent to 1,300 tons of water and fire retardant, through 28 aerial missions.
He highlighted that the UAE’s strong contribution to humanitarian and relief operations reflects not only its leadership in international humanitarian action but also the strength of bilateral ties between the UAE and Albania.
The mission, which began on August 12, targeted wildfire-affected areas including the Gramos and Ballolli forests as well as the Vlora coastal region. The deployment followed the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
In recognition of their efforts, the Albanian government honored the participating rescue teams, including the UAE team, during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and senior military leaders.
Albania expressed its gratitude to all national forces and international partners who contributed to reinforcing security, disaster response, and humanitarian relief. Officials emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with international allies to enhance Albania’s ability to confront future natural disasters.
