Merumei is an intelligent robot that reads and reacts to human emotions.
A report published by the ux-xu website indicated that Yokai Engineering recently unveiled a robot called "Merome," which clips on and automatically rotates passersby, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas
Tokyo-based robotics startup Yukai Engineering unveiled Merumi, a mascot robot that automatically turns its head to look at a nearby person. Merumi is designed to mimic the joyful experience people have when they notice a baby trying to interact with them, moving its head in different ways to express its curiosity and shyness and possessing emotions similar to those of children.
Shunsuke Aoki, CEO of Yokai Engineering, said: "People often find great pleasure in sharing their happiness with others, and Merume is a robot that enables you to do just that. Whether you're riding a crowded train or standing in line to pay, Merume will always find a way to reach people's hearts with his innocent gaze, prompting the person to wave to the robot or make a cheerful face in response.
Merueme recognizes people by looking around to scan the general environment using an internal distance sensor and uses an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to detect movements. He is curious, inquisitive, shy, cautious, and also dismissive.
Meruei features attractive cartoon eyes, long arms with hands designed for easy gripping of bag straps, and a head-body balance that can withstand the weight of mechanical parts
