Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched an attack on French President Emmanuel Macron, two days after Macron criticized Ankara's controversial activities in the eastern Mediterranean.
During an event organized by his Justice and Development Party in Istanbul, Erdogan called on his French counterpart to "learn lessons from history and not give Turkey lessons in humanity," according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Speaking to Macron, Erdogan added, "I previously told you by phone to consider it from history and not to give Turkey lessons in humanity ... We know you well, because you are the ones who killed a million Algerians and 800 thousand Rwandans."
Erdogan claimed that those who will target Turkey through terrorism, pressure and the weapon of the economy seek to dissuade him from his honorable and resolute stances.
Media outlets quoted Erdogan as saying to Macron, "You will have more problems with me," and "Do not mess with the Turkish people .. Do not mess with Turkey," considering that France has no right to criticize Ankara.
On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that Turkey is no longer a partner in the Mediterranean, criticizing the Erdogan regime's activities in Libya and the illegal exploration operations off the coast of Cyprus.
