France and Greece agreed to punish Turkey


France and Greece reached an agreement to punish Turkey in the event that its ships did not withdraw from the eastern Mediterranean.  The bilateral statement stressed that Turkey's unacceptable behavior requires a firm European response.

French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed that Europe should speak in a more united and firm voice towards Turkey, which is no longer a partner in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Macron said, in his statements before the summit of the countries of the South in the European Union, "We, as Europeans, have to be clear and firm with the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which today is carrying out unacceptable behavior," calling on Ankara to clarify its intentions, expressing at the same time his deep desire In starting a fruitful dialogue again with Turkey.

Macron confirmed that unacceptable practices took place on the Libyan coasts towards a French frigate that was operating under the command of NATO, adding that Turkey had signed unacceptable agreements with the Libyan Government of National Accord, denying the legitimate rights of Greece.
