Barça Stars Rescue Win from Relegated Side
Barcelona needed a spark from their star players off the bench to overturn an early deficit and claim a 2-1 victory over already-relegated Real Valladolid on Saturday in La Liga's Match day 34.
Valladolid took a surprise lead just six minutes in through Iván Sánchez, capitalizing on a poor reaction from Barça goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The Catalan side, fielding a largely second-string lineup, struggled to create real danger until Lamine Yamal replaced the injured Dani Rodríguez late in the first half.
Head coach Hansi Flick then introduced Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha after the break, with the Brazilian equalizing just nine minutes later.
In the 60th minute, Fermín López scored a stunning goal from a Gerard Martín cross, sealing the win and sending Barcelona seven points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, who face Celta Vigo on Sunday ahead of their much-anticipated clash next week that could decide the league title.
