Paris St-Germain Stuns Arsenal at Home, Takes a Step Toward Champions League Final
Paris Saint-Germain took a major step toward the UEFA Champions League final after a narrow 1–0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of their semifinal clash on Tuesday.
Ousmane Dembélé scored the game's only goal in the 4th minute, capitalizing on PSG’s early dominance. Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, the French side maintained their lead throughout the match to gain a valuable advantage ahead of the return leg in Paris.
Arsenal, appearing in a Champions League semifinal for the first time since 2009, gradually improved after a shaky start. Mikel Merino had a second-half goal ruled out, while PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made several key saves to preserve the lead.
PSG nearly doubled their advantage late in the match, but Bradley Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos missed two golden chances.
The return leg is set to take place in Paris next Wednesday. The winner on aggregate will advance to the final in Munich, where they’ll face the victor of the other semifinal between Inter Milan and Barcelona.
