The Libyan army has been at war for years with Turkey and Erdogan

Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Mesmari, a spokesman for the Libyan National Army, said that the army has been at war with the Turks "not since last summer but for years when the Libyan army declared war on terror."

Al-Mesmari confirmed in an interview with Al-Arabiya TV on Tuesday evening that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had sent soldiers and mercenaries to Libya to fight the Libyan National Army.

Regarding the Turkish ship that the Libyan National Army seized and searched off the coast of Libya, Al-Mismari explained, "We searched ships that violated the ban imposed off the coast of Libya ... and the Turkish ship committed 3 violations of the maritime embargo and ignored the calls of the Libyan Coast Guard."

Al-Mismari added, "The Turkish ship was searched and we will discuss its fate ... The ship does not transport suspicious cargo, but it entered the exclusion zone."
