UAE strikes deal with German companies to develop hydrogen strategy

As it diversifies its energy mix and strives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the UAE has hired German firms to establish the nation's national hydrogen strategy. In order to create its hydrogen strategy, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) partnered with the applied research institution Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and struck an agreement with the German engineering and advising firm GHD.

“We remain focused on our goal of capturing 25 percent of the most important hydrogen market,” said Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, “Our ambition is to see the UAE become a world-leading authority on the role of hydrogen in the energy transition.”
