UAE Delivers Urgent Medical Aid to Chad to Combat Cholera Outbreak

The Government of Chad officially received 30 tons of urgent medical aid and medicines from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to help curb the spread of cholera.

The aid was handed over at N’Djamena International Airport in the presence of H.E. Zahra Mohammed Issa, Chad’s Minister of Social Action, Solidarity and Humanitarian Affairs, alongside Emirati and Chadian officials.

Minister Issa expressed her government’s deep gratitude to the UAE leadership, government, and people for their timely support, emphasizing that the medicines and medical supplies will boost the efforts of Chadian health teams working to contain the outbreak. She highlighted that the UAE’s assistance reflects the highest values of solidarity, cooperation, and humanitarian partnership between the two countries.

UAE Ambassador to Chad, H.E. Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi, reaffirmed that this urgent medical aid underscores the longstanding bilateral relations and reflects the UAE’s leading humanitarian role across Africa. He stressed that the UAE remains committed to supporting international efforts to prevent the spread of epidemics, particularly cholera, which has been a growing concern highlighted by the World Health Organization in several African countries, including Chad.

This humanitarian response further demonstrates the UAE’s global commitment to health security, rapid crisis response, and international solidarity in times of urgent need.
