The 18th edition of the World Future Energy Summit kicks off on Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. It is expected to be the largest and most influential edition in the history of the summit, which is one of the world’s leading gatherings specializing in sustainability and clean energy.
The summit is held as part of AbuDhabi Sustainability Week, hosted by Masdar, and brings together a select group of world leaders at a pivotal moment in the energy sector's transformation. Its events include extensive conferences, exhibitions of the latest cutting-edge technologies, and new networking and interaction events aimed at creating a rapid and tangible positive impact.
The summit is expected to attract more than 50,000 people from 150 countries, in addition to the participation of more than 450 exhibiting companies, and about 400 experts and speakers from government bodies and various stakeholders in the energy, finance, academic and civil society sectors.
The summit contributes to strengthening international cooperation through national pavilions and high-level forums, including the European Hydrogen Council Summit, along with partnerships with international organizations such as Greenpeace Middle East and North Africa and the International Renewable Energy Agency, as part of efforts to transform climate ambitions into real and measurable results.
Gareth Rapley, Director of Energy Portfolio and Maritime Operations at RX Global, said that this year’s summit was designed to have a positive impact that extends beyond its three-day duration. “We are building a cohesive system that helps ideas move quickly from discussion to implementation by launching expanded conference programs, new networking and interaction platforms, and year-round initiatives to support business development. Our focus is on ensuring that the partnerships formed at the summit translate into long-term collaborations and investments, as well as making tangible progress in the global energy transformation.”
The World Future Energy Summit 2026, in its eighteenth edition, is preparing to consolidate its leading position in the Middle East region as the most prominent platform in the field of clean energy and sustainability dialogues.
The summit is based on the highest levels of innovation, thought and applicable solutions, and its activities are taking place at a pivotal stage in the transformation of the global energy sector, and will continue until January 15.
The energy transformation continues its strong momentum at the regional level; the UAE has pledged to invest US$54 billion in renewable energy projects by the end of the current decade, in addition to raising US$83 billion to finance clean climate technologies during the Conference of the Parties (COP28), and an additional US$30 billion through the Altera Climate Finance Fund, while Saudi Arabia has allocated US$270 billion to support its renewable energy ambitions, and has pledged to provide US$200 billion to support climate action by expanding the scope of the Saudi Green Initiative.
The accompanying exhibition events cover the entire value chain of the clean energy sector, showcasing the latest leading technologies and scalable solutions in the fields of solar and renewable energy, hydrogen and clean fuels, water and wastewater treatment technologies, the circular economy and waste-to-energy conversion, smart cities and electric vehicle mobility, green finance, along with fast-growing sectors such as digital energy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
The exhibition halls at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre are preparing to present a comprehensive overview of the role of innovation in reshaping the global energy system, including advanced photovoltaic systems, energy storage technologies, smart power grids, sustainable fuels, and smart infrastructure.
The summit's key events include the launch of "Fuse AI," a dedicated innovation zone and conference exploring the role of artificial intelligence in transforming energy systems, enhancing infrastructure resilience, and developing climate solutions. The platform showcases AI-powered applications that enable improved energy grid efficiency, proactive analytics, increased system effectiveness, and smarter resource management
