The growing presence of Turkey in Yemen, especially in the restive southern region, has become a matter of concern throughout the region regarding security in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab.
Fears increased after reports indicated that Turkey's agenda in Yemen was funded and supported by Qatar by Yemeni political and tribal figures affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. With the aim of blackmailing the Arab-led coalition by creating a Turkish threat in the country and forming a new alliance that includes Qatar.
Turkey is waiting for the right moment to intervene as it hopes to obtain more support from the Yemeni government, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, before storming the land.
Currently, the cautious Turkish activities, which are actually hidden in Yemen, are concentrated in three Yemeni coastal regions: Shabwa, Socotra, and Al-Mokha district in Taiz governorate, according to sources in the country, who refused to reveal their identity.
Turkish intelligence agents in Shabwa governorate under the cover of the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Organization, which has been active in the province since it fell under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood, in August.
The members of the Muslim Brotherhood aspire to reach the strategic port of Balhaf, take advantage of gas exports and reach the coast overlooking the Arabian Sea, which is a main gateway for any potential Turkish intervention and the shipment of basic supplies from Turkish military bases in neighboring Somalia.
