Turkey prevents Germany from inspecting a suspicious ship off the coast of Libya


 The German magazine "Der Spiegel" announced today, Monday, that Turkey has prevented the German army from inspecting a transport ship belonging to the first suspected of transporting weapons to Libya.

The German magazine reported that Berlin's move comes within the framework of Irene's mission to monitor the transfer of weapons to Libya.

Forces of Operation Irene are still searching ships in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions regarding the arms embargo.

The primary mission of Operation IRINI is to implement the arms embargo through the use of air, sea and satellite assets. In order to support the process of bringing stability and peace to Libya.

The operation has the ability to conduct inspections of ships on the high seas off the coast of Libya, which are suspected of carrying weapons, materials or equipment to or from them and in violation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
