Turks of Istanbul taste the ravages of the Turkish economic collapse

A new survey in Istanbul shows that citizens in Turkey's largest city are concerned about their ability to cover their monthly costs, according to Bergen.

In a survey conducted by the city's statistical office, residents were asked how they viewed their personal economic situation as well as the state's situation.

In both questions, they answered negatively, with 60.2% of respondents stating that they cannot earn enough to live.

And 87.6 percent said they could not afford the urgent, unexpected expenses of 5,000 liras ($ 648.98) by their own means.

Among those who do not have a job in Istanbul, 75% express pessimism that they will find work in the near future, and 28.7% of workers actually fear losing their jobs as a result of the poor economy and the Coronavirus epidemic.

The respondents expressed their opinion on their economic problems, the city's preparation for a major earthquake and the improvement of the city's transportation systems to be the most important.
