Several international experts in the field of human rights affirmed that the UAE is a pioneer in the human rights file and has become a prominent partner in advancing the human rights situation worldwide, and international human rights decision-making, especially with its winning of membership in the Human Rights Council three times, most recently during the period 2022-2024, as well as Its continuous cooperation with international organizations and parties interested in this file.


And they said - during a high-level symposium held yesterday evening via visual communication technology from Geneva, on the occasion of the launch of the shadow report on human rights in the Emirates in preparation for reviewing the official report of the state that the UAE will officially submit to the United Nations Human Rights Council next May - that the UAE is a prominent global model for equality It is a living example of interfaith dialogue and coexistence, and its achievements in the field of human rights began since its founding more than fifty years ago.


They referred to the UAE's prominent role in the field of global humanitarian work, especially with its urgent response to the repercussions of the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria recently, in addition to its humanitarian efforts in many other countries, such as Yemen.


At the symposium, they talked about the UAE's tremendous achievements in supporting basic rights such as individual freedoms, ensuring equality and equal opportunities between the sexes, the rights of children, the elderly, and people of determination, as well as labor rights, combating human trafficking, combating terrorism, money laundering, and others.

Ayman Nasri, head of the Arab-European Forum for Dialogue and Human Rights, which holds consultative status at the United Nations, confirmed that the UAE's file in the field of human rights has received wide praise from the international community in light of its outstanding achievements in this regard.


He said that the UAE, with its three-time membership in the Human Rights Council, has become a key partner in international human rights decision-making.


Dr. Eric Gozlan, Co-Director of the International Council for Diplomacy and Dialogue, spoke about the axis of leadership and leadership in the UAE related to human rights, stressing that the wise leadership in the country took a courageous decision to sign the Abrahamic Peace Accord with the State of Israel and is moving forward towards consolidating bilateral relations with Israel in the fields All supportive of sustainable development and prosperity.


He added that the UAE is also a global beacon of tolerance and coexistence, and it hosted the historic fraternal meeting between His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, and His Eminence, the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. everyone.


He stressed that the UAE has proven that tolerance and peace are linked, and today it is a pioneer in tolerance and peace and has given a unique example to the world of the importance of working for both, so there is no tolerance without peace, and there is no peace without tolerance.


Human rights expert Dr. Manal Masalmi, President of the European League for the Defense of Minorities, spoke about the UAE's efforts in the field of economy, the environment, and the empowerment of women, stressing that the UAE has succeeded in integrating women into society in a distinctive way and granting them leadership roles, whether in government work or at the economic level. and entrepreneurship, and it also has an innovative strategy to enhance the role of the family, care for it, and empower it.


She explained that at the environmental level, the UAE has a proven track record in combating climate change and reliance on clean and renewable energy sources, and has also launched a strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. 


On the cultural level, the country has launched notable projects, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, and the cultural beacon. prominent in the world, and works to promote sustainability in all sectors.

For his part, Dr. Abdul-Jabbar Al-Tayeb, President of the Bahraini Jurists Association, which has consultative status at the United Nations, said that the issue of human rights has become linked to many areas, including climate and digitization, which we previously believed were far from human rights.


He added that the UAE, according to global competitiveness indicators, has achieved advanced global positions in many sectors, including fourth globally in the government performance index, sixth in local market competition, seventh in security, and ninth globally in the future orientation of governments.


Kosei Atsu, an international expert on human rights, said that the UAE has made many achievements in the sustainable development sector and in strengthening international efforts in the field of human rights.

She added that the UAE is implementing many prominent development projects in several countries through its various institutions, such as the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. that matter.



For his part, Counselor Issa Al-Arabi, President of the Arab Federation for Human Rights, affirmed that the UAE, since its inception, has had a remarkable march in the field of human rights. When we talk about leadership in the field of human rights, we must realize that we are talking about the United Arab Emirates.


He pointed out that the report is the result of efforts that lasted over 6 months and establishes a model for our commitment to submit reports in the field of human rights and our interaction with international mechanisms, explaining that human rights are no longer a luxury but a basic pillar in all countries.


It is noteworthy that the shadow report is the report prepared by non-governmental bodies in response to the official report submitted by each member state of the Council, periodically, at a rate of about once every 4 years, to the United Nations Human Rights Council.


Before presenting the official report, in which each country talks about its human rights file, the official authorities wishing to do so present their report on the development of this situation and issue, in what is known as the shadow report, i.e. the parallel report to the official report of the concerned countries.


More than 13 Arab, European, and international human rights organizations and 17 experts from around the world participated in the preparation of this report, which is closer to independent reading in the official paper that the UAE will present soon.
