The UAE and Barbados are discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation

Today, Saturday, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley the relations of cooperation between the two countries and ways to invest in the opportunities available to enhance them in all fields, especially climate and renewable energy.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reviewed the UAE’s preparations to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), the event’s agenda and the priorities of the UAE presidency of the conference, especially the efforts aimed at ensuring the provision of financing for climate activities in order to support the achievement of a just energy transition.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed that sustainable development is a priority for all countries and an inherent right of people, and achieving it requires a qualitative shift in the climate action process and mobilizing global efforts. With the aim of reaching climate neutrality, as well as working to adopt innovative initiatives supporting this goal, pointing to the UAE’s support for the “Bridgetown” initiative led by Motley Fool since “COP 26” to access international financing for climate action, especially for the countries most vulnerable to climate change, which contributes to supporting their response to its repercussions. Pointing out the importance of strengthening global efforts to address international financial reform issues in the climate file.
