"Don't Touch Me Again" – Verbal Altercation Involving Denzel Washington on the Cannes Red Carpet

A verbal altercation occurred between Oscar-winning American actor Denzel Washington and a photographer during the premiere of his new film "Highest 2 Lowest" at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday.

A widely circulated video on social media shows the 70-year-old Washington pointing his finger at a photographer during a visibly tense moment on the red carpet.

Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman told the Daily Mail that the actor, known for his role in Malcolm X, appeared angry because the photographer had touched his arm.

According to Freeman, Washington shouted, “Just once, stop... Let me be clear, don't ever touch me again.”

Despite Washington’s repeated warnings, the video showed the photographer continuing to try to touch him and even asked, “Can I take a picture?” This prompted Washington to respond angrily, “Stop, enough, I’m serious, stop.”

Some photographers nearby seemed unaware of how upset Washington was, as they were seen smiling during the incident.

Washington has a history of tense moments with photographers. In October 2024, he was filmed arguing with several autograph seekers in New York during a tribute event at the Museum of Modern Art honoring actor Samuel L. Jackson.
