In the presence of the President of the State… a global technology consortium launches the “UAE Stargate” project

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, a group of specialized technology companies—including G42, Open AI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group, and Cisco—today announced the launch of “UAE Stargate,” a historic step toward advancing artificial intelligence and deepening international cooperation.

The project will establish a cutting-edge AI computing cluster with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt (expandable to 5 GW) at the new Emirati-American AI Complex in Abu Dhabi. The launch ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense; His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the AI Council; and a number of senior officials.

G42 will be responsible for building the Stargate infrastructure, while Open AI and Oracle will jointly manage its operations. Cisco will provide zero-trust security systems and AI-optimized networking, and SoftBank Group and NVIDIA will contribute through their latest technologies—specifically NVIDIA’s Grace Blackwell GP300 systems. The project aims to deliver state-of-the-art AI infrastructure and nationwide computing power, reducing data-processing latency to ensure AI solutions meet the demands of a rapidly growing field. The first 200 MW computing cluster is slated to go online in 2026.

UAE Stargate will lay a solid foundation for scalable, reliable AI, accelerating scientific discovery and driving innovation across healthcare, energy, finance, and transportation—thereby boosting future economic growth and national development.

Last week in Abu Dhabi, the new Emirati-American AI Complex was inaugurated—also in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and U.S. President Donald Trump. The complex launch coincides with the “U.S.–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership,” a new bilateral initiative to foster safe, trustworthy, and responsible AI for the benefit of humanity.

Under this framework, Emirati entities will expand digital-infrastructure investments in the United States through projects such as “U.S. Stargate,” aligning with the recently announced “America First Investment” policy. Spanning 10 square miles—making it the largest facility of its kind outside the U.S.—the AI Complex will supply up to 5 GW of regional AI data-center capacity, powered by nuclear, solar, and natural-gas energy to minimize carbon emissions. It will also feature a science park designed to spur innovation, talent development, and sustainable computing infrastructure.

Bing Xiao, CEO of G42, said:

> “The launch of UAE Stargate marks a pivotal chapter in UAE–U.S. AI collaboration. As a founding partner, we are proud to stand alongside institutions that share our commitment to responsible innovation and constructive global progress. This initiative builds a bridge of trust and ambition to bring AI’s benefits to economies, societies, and individuals worldwide.”

Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, commented:

> “By establishing the world’s first Stargate project outside the United States in the UAE, we are turning bold vision into tangible reality. This is OpenAI’s inaugural achievement under its ‘Alliance Nations’ initiative, which focuses on partnering with allies to build global AI infrastructure. It will enable breakthroughs—safer medicines, personalized education, clean energy—from more countries for the benefit of all humanity.”

Larry Ellison, Oracle’s Chief Technology Officer, said:

> “Stargate merges Oracle’s AI-optimized cloud with sovereign state infrastructure—creating a unique global platform for every UAE government body and business to connect their data to the world’s most advanced AI models. This launch sets a new standard for digital sovereignty and illustrates how nations can harness humanity’s most significant technology.”

Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, remarked:

> “AI is the driving force of our era. Through UAE Stargate, we are building the AI infrastructure to support the nation’s bold vision, empower its people, grow its economy, and shape its future.”

Masayoshi Son, Chairman and CEO of SoftBank Group, said:

> “When we launched Stargate in the U.S. with Open AI and Oracle, our goal was to power the coming information revolution. Now, the UAE becomes the first country outside America to adopt this sovereign AI platform—underscoring our global vision. SoftBank is proud to support the UAE’s leap into the future; bold investments, trusted partnerships, and national ambition will create a more connected, empowered, and prosperous world.”

Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, added:

> “Cisco is honored to join UAE Stargate in advancing AI innovation at home and abroad. By integrating our secure, AI-enhanced networking infrastructure into this global expansion, we are building intelligent, resilient, and energy-efficient networks that turn AI into real-world impact on a global scale.”
