China opens the world's first fully automated production line for humanoid robot joints.

Chinese company Eyou Robot Technology has announced the launch of the world's first fully automated production line for robot joints, in a strategic move aimed at seizing anticipated growth opportunities with the expected surge in shipments of humanoid robots globally

The new factory is located in the Pudong district of Shanghai and began operations last week with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units, with the potential to triple production in later stages.

Early expansion to seize the lead
Founded in 2018, Eyou is a major supplier to several of China's leading humanoid robot developers, including industry leader AgiBot. The company successfully entered mass production in 2023, with annual shipments exceeding 95,000 joints in 2025.

This expansion reflects Eyou's efforts to secure a strong market share before the humanoid robot market reaches mass production and full commercial scale.
A potential turning point in the robotics market
The Shanghai Securities News quoted an executive at an East China-listed components company as saying that building production capacity must precede actual demand in order to achieve a “first-party” advantage.

The official pointed out that the path to producing humanoid robots will not resemble the automotive industry, which relied on slow gradualism and phased expansion. Rather, the market is expected to witness a sudden turning point, with a technological breakthrough leading to a sharp jump in demand.

He added: “Designing production lines and building industrial capabilities takes a long time, and it will be too late to start from scratch when that moment arrives.”

Expectations of rapid growth in global shipments
In a report released this month, Counterpoint Research stated that the number of global installations of humanoid robots reached 16,000 units in 2025, predicting that shipments would exceed 100,000 units by 2027.

The company indicated that the next two years will see a larger number of companies entering the marketing and production phase of ready-to-use versions for mass production.

China leads the global race
The report confirmed that China's acceleration in large-scale commercial production has put it at the forefront of the humanoid robot sector, accounting for more than 80% of total global installations in 2025.

The integrated joint unit, Eyou's flagship product, is a crucial element in the robot's cost, representing about half of the total cost per unit.
Advanced Industrial Financing and Clusters
The company announced that it closed a 50 million yuan (approximately $7.2 million) Series A funding round last March, led by funds affiliated with Pudong Venture Capital Group and Shanghai Zhangjiang Science and Technology Investment Corporation, with participation from investors including TCL Venture Capital, Daocin Capital and a fund affiliated with Wuxi Capital Group.
Following the funding, Eyou moved to Zhangjiang Robot Valley in Shanghai, which is home to elite robotics companies such as Leaderdrive, Fourier and AgiBot
