The President of the State and the President of Pakistan discuss bilateral relations and regional developments
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, discussed today various aspects of bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, in order to serve the joint development of the two countries and bring good to their peoples.
During the meeting, which took place at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness the President of the State welcomed the Pakistani President, who is on a working visit to the country, and expressed his gratitude to His Excellency for his keenness to strengthen the UAE-Pakistan relations, which are witnessing continuous growth.
The meeting touched on the ongoing talks regarding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which the two countries are seeking to finalize, hoping that it will contribute to a qualitative leap in their economic and trade relations.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common interest and exchanged views on them, stressing the importance of working to strengthen the causes of peace and stability in the region and the world and settling disputes through dialogue and diplomatic solutions for the benefit of all.
In this context, His Highness the President of the State affirmed that Pakistan’s current membership in the UN Security Council strengthens its cooperation with the UAE in the United Nations to support regional and global peace.
For his part, His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari affirmed the strength of the relations that unite the UAE and Pakistan, noting that the path of bilateral cooperation is witnessing development and that his country is keen to push this development forward, especially in the economic fields, in order to open new horizons for fruitful development partnerships between the two countries that will bring prosperity to their people.
