The UAE participates in the session “Global Transition Towards the Era of the Electric State” within India Energy Week
The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the session "Global Transition Towards the Era of the Electric State" within the Indian Energy Week, which was held in Goa, Republic of India, with the participation of a select group of decision-makers and international experts in the energy sector.
The session discussed the challenges and opportunities associated with increasing global demand for electricity, the resilience of supply chains, and the importance of investing in smart and resilient electricity grid infrastructure.
During the session, His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for the Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector, highlighted the UAE’s leadership through existing and future projects to modernize electricity networks, integrate renewable energy sources and employ advanced digital solutions, ensuring reliable, accessible and low-emission energy systems.
He said that expanding and modernizing electricity networks is a key pillar for enhancing energy security, supporting economic growth, and accelerating the transition to clean energy, especially in light of the rapidly growing global demand for electricity.
He added that the UAE continues to consolidate its position in the clean energy sector by diversifying its energy mix, most notably through the Barakah Peaceful Nuclear Energy Plant, which is a global model for producing clean and reliable electricity, contributing to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing the stability of the electricity grid, and supporting the country’s goals of climate neutrality and transition to a sustainable energy system.
