Participation of His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan in the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union
His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the African Union Summit on February 14, 2026 in Addis Ababa, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, with the participation of heads of state and government and senior officials, to discuss the continent’s priorities, including peace and security, economic integration and sustainable development.
During his bilateral meetings, His Excellency conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Presidential Court, and their wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the member states of the African Union.
The participation of the United Arab Emirates reflects the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, in consolidating the UAE’s relations with African countries, strengthening partnerships based on trust and mutual respect, and supporting efforts for peace, stability and sustainable development on the continent.
The UAE also affirms its support for the goals of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the African Union Commission and member states in the areas of trade and investment, renewable energy, food security, digital transformation, and capacity building
On the sidelines of the summit, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan met with a number of African leaders and officials, where they discussed the latest political and economic developments and emphasized the continued strengthening of cooperation with African countries

The UAE provides an inspiring model of developmental diplomacy. Focusing on digital transformation and renewable energy in Africa is exactly what the region needs. Kudos to the UAE leadership for this vision built on trust and mutual respect.

HE Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan’s presence at the AU Summit proves the UAE is an indispensable strategic partner in supporting "Agenda 2063." An excellent move for boosting economic cooperation and food security.
