Pogacar leads UAE Cycling in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège World Tour
The UAE XRG cycling team will participate in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège World Tour on Sunday in Belgium, in addition to the Tour de Romandie scheduled for next May, led by its Slovenian world champion, Tadej Pogačar.
Pogacar is competing in the 112th edition of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège race, seeking his fourth title in six years, after achieving his first title in this race in 2021, before recently raising his tally of Monument races to 12 titles, following his victory in the Rond van Vlaanderen race.
The race, which began in 1892, is one of the oldest cycling races in the world. It covers a distance of 259.3 kilometers, including 4,401 meters of climbing, with 11 classified climbs, 8 of which are in the last 90 kilometers, making it one of the toughest and most challenging races of the season for the competitors.
The team roster for the Liège-Bastogne-Liège race includes, in addition to Pogačar, riders Benoît Cosnefroë, Ron Herrigodts, Vegard Steck Laingen, Dominik Nowak, Pavel Sivakov, and Belgian Tim Velens, under the supervision of sports directors André Hauptmann and Marco Marzano.
