The "Council of Thought and Knowledge" discusses the role of media and society in times of crisis.
The Shamma bint Mohammed Council for Thought and Knowledge hosted, yesterday evening in Al Ain, a number of female members of the Federal National Council, at the invitation of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, during a dialogue meeting within a series of intellectual meetings aimed at enhancing community awareness and consolidating the concepts of stability and confidence in various circumstances.
The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies Aisha Al Dhanhani, Sheikha Saeed Al Kaabi, Mona Rashid Tahnoon, Aisha Rashid Al Yateem, Amna Al Adidi, Mariam Obaid Al Badawi and Hashima Bint Yasser Al Afari, members of the Federal National Council.
The session addressed the role of the media and society in times of crisis, and how to transform public discourse into a tool of awareness and reassurance that contributes to maintaining social cohesion and enhancing confidence in national institutions.
The session began with a question posed by Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, regarding the role of the media during the recent crisis, and the responsibility of the members of the Federal National Council in conveying messages of security and stability to society, stressing that crisis management is not limited to direct confrontation, but extends to include building the general sense of trust, and consolidating the feeling of stability in the hearts of individuals, especially in moments when fears escalate and interpretations abound.
She stressed the importance of directing media discourse towards highlighting the achievements of the state and the efficiency of its institutions, noting the need to move beyond temporary reactions towards presenting a coherent image that reflects the UAE’s ability to continue working, ensure the continuity of services, and maintain the readiness of its infrastructure in various circumstances.
She explained that the UAE has presented an advanced model, which can be described as "operational soft power," as it has demonstrated that the continuity of institutional performance, the stability of services, and the state's presence in the details of daily life represent practical messages with a tangible impact that enhances societal reassurance and confirms the strength of the national system.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan stressed that the family remains the primary institution in instilling values and building awareness, while the school, media, and community institutions complement and expand this role, contributing to building a cohesive society capable of facing challenges with confidence and awareness.
The meeting witnessed diverse interventions by members of the Federal National Council, where visions varied between parliamentary, educational, social and media dimensions, which added to the session a wealth of knowledge and integration in reading the scene.
The meeting affirmed that the UAE, with its wise leadership, forward-looking vision and integrated institutions, not only manages crises, but also manages the state of societal awareness with steadfastness and responsibility, making security and safety a lived experience that everyone feels in the details of their daily lives
