The "Emirates Goldsmiths" platform showcases the stages of gold manufacturing in "Made in the UAE"
The Emirates Goldsmiths platform, affiliated with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is participating in the "Made in the UAE 2026" exhibition currently being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The platform presented visitors with a practical model of an integrated factory and showcased the complete life cycle of gold jewelry making and gemstone polishing, starting from the extraction of raw metals, through the crafting and precise carving of stones and their placement inside precious metals, up to the final touches to produce complete works of art by purely national hands.
Over four days, the platform provided visitors to the exhibition with a comprehensive knowledge journey and experience of the Emirati jewelry industry through 5 main sections that showcased the creations of a select group of Emirati designers and craftswomen who presented their latest and most diverse designs.
The platform’s participation in the event came as one of the most prominent national initiatives of the Sharjah Chamber supporting entrepreneurs and business owners in the gold and jewelry sector, within the framework of the Chamber’s keenness to support national industries and highlight quality initiatives in the gold and jewelry sector in the United Arab Emirates.
The platform included several sections that gradually led the visitor from the “Council and Jewelry History Section,” dedicated to discussing heritage and hosting dialogue sessions about the history of jewelry in the Emirates, to the “Stone and Design Journey Section,” which reviewed the stages of transformation of precious stones from the mine to a colorful work of art, then the “Sculpture Section,” which included a live workshop to showcase metal forming, engraving and plating skills, as well as the “Drawings Exhibition,” which celebrated the creative plans and hand drawings of designers, leading up to the “Jewelry Exhibition,” which represents the final display platform and allows visitors to observe the aesthetic development of heritage jewelry and its updated versions.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, affirmed that the Chamber’s participation in the “Made in the UAE 2026” exhibition embodies a deep strategic commitment to supporting efforts aimed at driving the UAE economy towards self-sufficiency and local innovation, especially in the creative and craft sectors, which constitute high-value economic tributaries. He explained that the “Emirates Goldsmiths” platform contributes to the development of small and medium enterprises in the jewelry and gold industry and represents an integral part of the institutional structure that views local craft arts as a basis for sustainable economic diversification.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais added that the Chamber is keen to provide an innovative and interactive environment that combines field experiences and academic skills to enhance the added value of local industry by providing products of global quality and an authentic cultural imprint that support the “Made in the Emirates” slogan. He pointed out that the Chamber’s success in transferring the innovations of more than 500 designers to specialized international platforms and exhibitions is a testament to the ability of the business environment in Sharjah to embrace local talents and turn them into a competitive economic force, which enhances the Emirate’s position as a destination for creative entrepreneurship in the region.
For her part, Mona Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and head of the “Emirates Goldsmiths” platform, confirmed that the platform, through its participation in the exhibition, aimed to continue embodying its mission of empowering national cadres of male and female citizens in various fields of the jewelry industry and providing the necessary support to showcase their talents globally and enhance the technical and professional skills necessary to prepare a new generation of professional goldsmiths and designers, in addition to highlighting the diversity of specializations within the sector, from polishing stones and designing metals to field studies and documenting heritage.
During its participation in the exhibition, the Emirates Goldsmiths platform launched the “Tabla” piece in its heritage and modern versions in an artistic masterpiece made of Emirati gold. Its designs incorporated multiple cultural influences inspired by foreign visits, in addition to a special inspiration from the heritage of the “Mleiha” archaeological area in the Emirate of Sharjah. The exhibits were joined by pieces of “Tabla” made of ceramic from Italian lava stone within the “Harf wa Naqsh” brand collection, reflecting cultural diversity and innovation in the use of contemporary materials in the jewelry sector.
The platform offered a knowledge-rich and practical training program that included introductory sessions on the history of Emirati jewelry, highlighting the designs of the “tabla” and its cultural significance, and a presentation on the “Journey of the Stone” which explained its path from the mine to the piece of jewelry and methods of evaluating it, as well as a workshop specializing in the art of designing and coloring stones.
