The UAE and the European Union are discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations

Today, Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, the President of the UAE Federal National Council, Saqr Ghobash, discussed with the European Union’s Special Envoy for Gulf Affairs, Luigi Di Maio, ways to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and European Union countries in various fields, and enhance coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest.

He expressed his aspiration to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and exchange experiences for the benefit of the peoples of the two regions, especially in light of the major developments and challenges the world is witnessing and the unification of positions and orientations this requires regarding various issues of common interest, noting the upcoming visit of the delegation of the UAE Federal National Council to the European Parliament. In France next week, the eighth meeting was held with the delegation of the Arabian Peninsula in the European Parliament.

The Chairman of the UAE Federal National Council pointed out the need for the international community to unite its efforts to confront climate change, stressing that the UAE seeks, through its presidency of the COP28 conference, to bring global views closer on all international issues related to climate change, noting the importance of the parliamentary role in combating climate change. For his part, Di Maio stressed that the UAE is a strategic partner of the European Union and a bridge between East and West. It has a pivotal role on the international scene, appreciating the UAE’s hosting of the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
