His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, headed the UAE delegation participating in the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

In the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and a number of state heads, presidents, and governments from around the world, His Highness began his speech by endorsing the Egyptian President's call to work to resolve the Ukrainian crisis in order to achieve peace, security, and stability in the world during the opening session of the "Climate Summit" within the work of the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE's commitment to ensuring energy security while reducing emissions, explaining that the country's oil and gas are among the least carbon-intensive in the world, and that work is continuing to reduce emissions in this vital sector, in line with the vision of The founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.

According to His Highness, the UAE announced its strategic effort to become climate neutral by 2050 as the first nation in the region. He also discussed the recently established collaboration between the UAE and the US, which aims to increase energy security and promote climate action by spending $100 billion to develop projects for the generation of 100 gigawatts of clean energy globally.
