Raspons Wealth Management: Thousands of entrepreneurs are migrating from Britain to the UAE
Data from wealth management firm Rathbones has revealed increasing challenges facing the United Kingdom in retaining talent and entrepreneurship, as thousands of them have chosen to leave Britain and head to other countries, primarily the UAE.
The company confirmed in its latest report that nearly 6,000 entrepreneurs left the country during the past two years, and that the UAE is their first destination.
During the same period, 3,182 business owners moved to the United Kingdom, resulting in a net loss of 2,758 entrepreneurs.
A Financial Times report, citing company data, says the technology sector is the most affected by these moves, as entrepreneurs in this sector seek more supportive environments for growth and investment opportunities, away from the economic and tax constraints facing the United Kingdom.
The data showed that the UAE was at the forefront of their destinations, followed by Spain and then the United States.

The flow of wealth also included a change in the number of wealthy people; the United Kingdom saw a net outflow of about 16,500 millionaires in 2025, equivalent to nearly $91.8 billion in investable assets.
Taxes and economic regulations
According to the report, taxes and economic regulations were among the main drivers. The UK saw changes to inheritance tax and capital gains tax, as well as the abolition of the non-permanent resident status that had granted significant tax advantages.
